It provides the mechanism for determining the differences between revisions on the data repository by choosing the most effective differencing and compression algorithms for specific data formats, compressing those differences, propagating them to the remote repositories, then reconstituting the revision by applying the differences to a previous revision. When this state-of-the-art compression and differencing algorithm is implemented, it results in revision data sizes which are an extremely small fraction of the original document size, thereby minimizing bandwidth requirements and utilization, and providing large cost savings to the customer for closer to "real time" data delivery.
